Bible Code Theory

The "bible code" is an algorithm created by Israeli mathematicians who used it to make predictions about the future.  They claim that all of history is encoded in some way or another in the bible.

The Science Behind It

It all started with a paper published in 1994 that claimed to have strong evidence that information about some famous rabbis were encoded in the bible even before the rabbis existed. Then in 1997, a book called “The Bible Code” was published which made the algorithm famous. Ever since then the bible code has been predicting everything from assassinations to dates when the world will end.

One of the most famous predictions using the bible code was about the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, an Israeli prime minister. Ever since this came true, it has been used as evidence that the bible code can predict the future.

Whether the recent bible code predictions have came true or not is up for debate. For example the bible code predicted an Ebola attack in Philadelphia. When the event didn’t occur, bible code believers praised the bible code even more, saying that because of public awareness created by the bible code, the event was prevented.

After the prediction that nuclear holocaust and earthquakes would end the world in 2006 didn’t happen, the author of the bible code stopped making exact predictions and ended up saying “I don't think the code makes predictions. I think it reveals probabilities".

One of these “probabilities”  was the earth would be annihilated in 2012 by a comet. Interestingly there is another code saying the earth WON’T be hit by a comet in 2012.

The most recent bible code prediction is that Obama will be assassinated in 2009, Hillary Clinton will become president and she will introduce us to the antichrist in 2010.

Should we worry

Considering the faulty predictions the bible code has made recently, this is a theory we don’t have to worry about very much.

Worst case scenario

The bible code’s newest predictions could be turn out to be correct. The antichrist could come in 2010 and the earth could be annihilated in 2012.

Best case scenario

The upcoming predictions could prove to be false, just like most of the other predictions.

Advice

Ignore the predictions, skip the books and do some research yourself if you still haven’t made up your mind.
